Basically, Export and Report and Custom View will be based on the same technology.
Right now you can define custom views to be displayed in summary pages such as "Customer Summary", "Opportunity Summary", "Case Summary". You can specify special search criterias, and columns to show. You will be able to use the same views as custom reports, and be able to export the output in CSV format.
This way we will have a consistent method to define, save, and retrieve views, reports, and exports.
